Another Week Another Vinyl: Nektar: Remember the Future

I finally ended up buying a turntable. So what was the first thing I had to do before hooking it up? Go to my local record store of course (Atomic CD's in Pt. Pleasant NJ)! I vowed to myself that I wouldn't let this turntable get to my head, so I decided that I would only allow myself to buy one vinyl each week. I also thought that buying one vinyl each week would be a good oppurtunity to share exactly what I picked. Expect that I have a post each week on my purchase.

This week, I went directly to the back of the store to check out their selection. I was personally hoping to find a little King Crimson in the mix but unfortuantely they were absent from the selection. I rummaged through a few letters of the alphabet and came accross Nektar's Remember the Future. I was a little shocked to find this gem from a not so well known prog legend lying around. With a price tag of just three dollars I couldn't pass it up. I can't wait to see what is in store for next week.

Oh, just looking at that makes me want to run out to a record store....but you know what, I don't even know where there IS a record store near me! Surely one will pop up soon. I just had a great idea for a post, I will dig out my box of albums and take some pics of them.

Daniel - It sounds great, there is a little bit of hissing and crackling here and there, but I can't complain.

Layla - It's the only record store around for me so it's pretty much my only option. The selection isn't exactly huge but I did find some albums which caught my attention.

I can't wait to see what albums you're posting.

Does the store have a listening station? The best part of being able to go to a store for me was getting to listen to stuff I'd never heard, and to make sure albums were in good enough shape.

I just raided the local store this evening when my wife and I were getting the new Kings of Leon. I did get "Icky Thump"!

Daniel - Nah, I don't think they have a listening station. By the way, how does Icky Thump sound? I would love to get some Stripes on vinyl.

Hehe, something about me, Jeff, I'm a reformed collector. I still have Nirvana's Nevermind and Pearl Jam's Ten sealed. Oh, and an original Darth Vader action figure.

So, I'm still conflicted about opening Icky Thump. Sheesh, I'm a nut. But I'll definitely let you know when I do listen to it. Maybe your interest will give me the push to break the seal.

Daniel - I don't think I could be like that. I'm way too excited when I get things, I break open the packaging before I arrive home...
