No Class Move From a Man With No Class

I despise Bill Belichick more than anyone in the world, and I truly mean that. In his history he's walked away from a team that he was obligated to coach, cheated multiple times, and for today, walks off the field before the game is over. How can anyone in the world defend this man? He is despicable to say the least.

If I recall correctly, Patriots WR Randy Moss pulled this kind of move when he played for the Vikings. He walked off the field before the clock reached zero and was torched by the media. If there is any justice in the world then Bill Belicheat will receive the same harsh criticism that Moss received. As coach of a football team you should be out on the field until the very last play. If anything you should be the last person off the field. What kind of message does that send to your team? This is one of the worst displays of class I have ever seen in football. I just cannot comprehend how people can back a coach that is not even present to send his team on for their last play.

Even though the Giants are my second most despised team behind the Patriots (At least for this season) I have to give them a lot of credit. Eli Manning, who I always claimed as being overrated showed one of the guttsiest performances I have seen in a long time. On that 3rd and 5 with a minute left, he was sacked for sure, but some how breaks away and throws a huge pass to keep the drive alive. What a Super Bowl this was!

The one thing I will take away from this Super Bowl is the fact that Bill Belichick is the biggest idiot in all of sports!

Belichick made himself and the entire franchise look like idiots. After all these years and all those wins, he couldn't manage to conjure up a veritable ounce of Gentlemanly behavior? Actions speak ever so much louder than words.

Not only did he abandon his team, but he disrespected the opposing coach. I don't watch much football, but every game I've ever seen ends with the two coaches meeting on the field to shake hands and say good game.

The Patriots have won Super Bowls before, so they don't need to throw a fit just because they lost one. Pathetic.

I agree with your dislike of Belichick, however, if you watch the end of the game he does walk across and shake hands and talks to Tom Coughlin.

But, then they had to run one more play. He still left the field early, but, he did go across to shake hands.

Bloviating Zeppelin - I agree fully

Russ - Nothing surprises me with him anymore...

Cybercoder - I do realize that he shook hands with the opposing coach, but I think that you need to be present to send your team out for the final play. The way I see it, the game isn't over until it is officially over, you never know what will happen. I realize the odds of the Giants somehow fumbling the final snap are one in one million but I think as a coach you are the leader of the team, don't walk off.

sorry Jeff, I guess I should have put a name on that.

The shaking hands was directed more for Russ, just as a clarification.

Even if he went to shake hands when everyone first went out on the field, he should have stuck around until the very end and done it again.

Cybercoder - Oh, I didn't realize...

Russ - I still agree, lol.

I agree wholeheartedly and think he should have his Best Coach title stripped, and should be bitch slapped by football fans across the world.

Ok guys, let me try this again.

I think he should be fined, I think he is a total cheating jerk.

I just pointed out the handshake, because Russ said he did not do that, and he did. Then he was a jerk, and he is still a jerk, and I am glad they lost.

Ok, I apologize if anyone thought I was defending him. Just pointing out the facts.

Jenn - Well I would love to be one of those fans to slap him.

Cybercoder - Haha, thanks for clarifying, lol.

I saw the shaking hands, but I didn't realize the coach left the field before the last play, very bad attitude, anyway I enjoyed the match, I was stuck to my tv set the last five minutes...ha.ha

Maybe he was just upset his whole grand perfect season scheme was spoiled by one of the most miraculous plays in history. Manning not going down and Tyree catching the ball. Two in one play? Oh man. This totally makes up for the Red Sox winning this year. Soooooooooooo happy. The parade today was ridiculous. It took me hours to navigate out of there.

I respect you're not a fan of Bellichick. But the man has led the Patriots to 3 Super Bowls. As for charges of "cheating"-- he's not the first, not the only, he was just the first one to get caught doing it. I'm not trying to justify it-- it's still inexcusable... But I don't think the NFL really took the whole Spygate thing far enough. I think they should have launched investigations into other teams suspected of doing that over the years.

Cheating is, unfortunately, rampant in pro sports. Sometimes it works and sometimes it backfires. Back in '86 when the Mets faced the Astros in the NLCS they complained to the MLB that the Astros ace pitcher, Mike Scott, was scuffing balls. Heck they collected a whole box of them and submitted them to the league offices as evidence but because the Mets ended up winning the NLCS and inevitably the Series, the matter was dropped. Scott was never punished and it was really only a secret to fans that he was scuffing balls at the time. Anyone and everyone who played against him knew about it...

And don't even get me started on hockey... there are some stories to tell...

As for Belichick walking off the field before the final play-- I'll admit that showed a certain lack of class. And I'll concede just because he's a good coach, that doesn't necessarily make him a good man.
