Led Zeppelin Reunion
Today while roaming through my e-mail's I noticed something that said Zeppelin reunion in it. Now, this article is from a reliable source but unfortunately their source isn't too reliable. It basically says that Robert Plant has verified that a reunion will indeed happen, and maybe even by November, and the lucky ones who will be able to see it are in England. The reunion is supposed to be a one time gig for a charity over in the London. Apparently all this information was taken from an autograph hunter, and we all know how reliable they are. I've heard about this possible reunion for a few months now, and maybe it is true, but I'm certainly not getting my hopes up, here is the article:"According to the British music magazine NME, Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has confirmed that a band reunion will happen as soon as later this year. The reunion, which has been rumored for years, will allegedly take place only once. The show is said to take place in London for a charity event during the month of November, although these particular details are unconfirmed. It seems as though the death of famed drummer John Bonham in 1980 isn't deterring the reunion plans.
Here's the catch: NME is relying on the validity of a source who is an autograph hunter. When said source approached Plant, he reportedly explained that he was on his way to meet with ex-bandmates Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. "We've got a band meeting about it this afternoon," Plant told the complete stranger. "There's not a lot to work out as it's only going to be one-off gig." Um, sure.
We're super skeptical here but we had to report it regardless because, well, what happens if it's true. Then we totally look like we're keeping them all to ourselves, and we'd never do that.

I have to say that I hope they don't do a reunion. While I can't imagine that they could destroy their legacy, I still prefer to see them leave things intact as they are. Robert Plant is doing a great job of carrying on Zeppelin's spirit (although not the sound) on his own while Jimmy Page has done pretty much nothing worthy of his history since Zeppelin.
Bob - I wouldn't mind a reunion, the only thing which would sort of make me weary of one is being without Bonham, I thought that was really respectful to stop after his death. I never really see it as a band hurting their legacy when they tour when they are old and often washed up, I figure what's history is history so why not give it another shot. I wouldn't want them to record another album because I'm sure it wouldn't even really be comparable to their past work but a tour would be exciting in my oppinion.
In 1980 when John Bonham died, the surviving members of the largest and greatest band in rock history displayed incredible dicipline and rare grace in bringing the curtain down. Sadly, the second Bonham died, Led Zeppelin ceased to exist. The famed magical Zeppelin chemistry that made them so dynamic and exciting was irretrievably lost with John. If they do reunite it should never be called Zeppelin because that sets the expectations impossibly high, and without Bonzo it is not Led Zeppelin.
Bobby - I think that would be great if they did it under a different name in honor of Bonzo. I guess we will see what they do when and if it happens.
I agree with you about playing live versus doing an album. I can deal with reunion tours easier than reunion albums.
If it's for a benefit concert, (like what Pink Floyd did), then it's ok. I don't think they should start a major tour or release new material under the Led Zep name. Either way, I'm glad to see that John Paul Jones is involved in the conversation. He always seems to be left out.
Bob - Definitely, reunion albums are usually pretty brutal when bands come back together, especially at this age.
Mike - It's definitely nice to hear John Paul Jones back in the mix and I agree about the benefit concert thing, I feel it would be best for them just to do this one show which is for a good cause.
