My Week In Music 5/21/07 - 5/27/07

There's not much to say about this week besides it was pretty eclectic in terms of the music I listened to. I didn't really listen to something over the another too much but I'll try to do my best to display My Week in Music:

Most Listened to Album: Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"

Most Listened to Song: Coheed & Cambira: "Welcome Home"

On a side note I will have a review up of Cynthia Lennon's book "John" by Wed. No procrastinating either, because I have actually written the review up, I just need to type it.

Jeff - I jammed to Dark side on guitar last weekend. It's such a blast to jam along with. On another band note, I quoted a song from Disturbed in my latest post you might like called "Darkness," You can youtube it and check it out. You might really dig it.

As for the writing? Just pound it out and stop putting off procratinator!

*poke*

Peace,

Dark Side is on my list of the handful of records that changed music. That puts it on a list with things like Revolver, Who's Next and Nothing's Shocking. It's just amzing and it might be the best produced album of all time. After The Mars Volta released their first album, I thought they were aroudn where Floyd was at the time of Meddle and I wondered if they'd release something like Dark Side. So far, they haven't been able to reach out to a more general audience and now I suspect they'll be more of a King Crimson than a Pink Floyd.

I love the Coheed & Cambria picture. I saw them open for Hot Water Music (a favorite of mine) in 2002 and I'll never forget that hair. He could definitely be in the Melvins of the C&C thing falls through. Anyway, they weren't a big band then (playing behind Thrice and HWM), but they played a rather good show.

Neo - I've never really tried playing much Floyd on guitar. Granted I suck a lot which detracts me from trying to learn things but maybe I'll try to look at the tabs for it today. I have Disturbed's first two CD's, I loved "The Sickness" but really didn't like "Believe." It's been quite awhile since I've listened to them.

Bob - I agree, this album changed music in such an amazing way. Not only did it change music but it changed my life and the way I viewed music. I really hope that The Volta can reach Floyd like status, and I thought the possibility was there after "Frances the Mute", I definitely listened to that CD more than any other CD released that year. But even if they were to be as good as Floyd was in "Meddle" that is saying a lot because "Meddle" is probably my third or fourth favorite Floyd album.

Jeff - I hear ya. I don't usually need tab, by ears work pretty well. Btw, Roger Waters place here this weekend. Too bad I couldn't get tickets. :(

Peace,
