Aerosmith: Devil's Got a New Disguise: The Very Best of Aerosmith

Coming out on October 17th is a new Aerosmith's Greatest Hits CD. The tracklisting for this CD looks excellent, they aren't quite overdoing the amount of songs on the CD nor are they underdoing it. What makes this Greatest Hits CD unique from all the rest is that it is the first single disc collection from Aerosmith to inclue both their songs from Columbia Records and Universal Music Enterprise catalogs. For those who are interested in seeing what is on the album here is a list:

Official Tracklisting

1. Dream On

2. Mama Kin

3. Sweet Emotion

4. Back In The Saddle

Jeff may not be a sellout, but maybe Aerosmith is. I bought "O Yeah" and it has almost every song on here except the new ones and the new version of I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing. Unless the new tracks become absolute classics, this is one album I don't need.

(I also noticed it doesn't include anything from Honkin' on Bobo - what gives!)

Jeff, I like every one of these songs, but I have most of them on my iPod already.

To anon:
I don't think Aerosmith is a sellout - why? cause they are putting out another greatest hits? so what? and why are you calling Jeff a sellout? That makes no sense.

(a school kid must have written that you know how they are!)

Don't the record companies oftentimes dictate when a greatest hits come out? That was my understanding. That's why if you think a band has too many greatest hist then you may need to blame the label and not the band.

I just love people who post under "anonymous", no balls and no brains. The true sellout is you, Anonymous, who actually pre-ordered the album. Hey Anonymous, without using your computer, name 5 Aerosmith studio albums! Odds r u can't. Learn how to type as well.

It's true, the labels have a lot to do with when a greatest hits package comes out, especially if the label owns the band's catalog. Releasing it now puts a little something new in the stores for the holidays.

Look at KISS. They don't own any of their back catalog before Alive IV Symphony so Universal can pump out reissues and greatest hits packages as long as they want, whenever they want. Cinderella has this problem to. Labels get make more profits from their back catalogs than they do from new artists.

Isn't it weird that the labels pump out greatest hits packages but its so hard to find the actual albums? I'll bet if you walk into your local mall CD store and look under Aerosmith, you will find a handfull of studio albums and a ton of greatest hits compilations.

Russ - I don't blame ya for not wanting to get this one if you already have "O Yeah," it's not quite worth it. Also, that anonymous person is my roomate, he think's he pretty funny, lol.

Layla - That school kid is my roomate, lol. This isn't the first time he left an obnoxious comment, lol.

MetalMark - I'm pretty sure you're right.

Rhode Island Rock - It's certainly a shame that it's so easy to find greatest hits records but not actual albums. I went to around seven stores a few weeks ago trying to find the Kansas CD "Leftoverture" and not one place had it, but of course all these places had one of their greatest hits CD's.

With all the old Aerosmith CDs and one greatest hits album, I have no need for another one. And I'm with Russ--I liked Honkin on Bobo, and there's nothing here. But I guess that's what "greatest hits" is all about, anyway.

Jeff - Looks like left off a few good ones. Then again, they've had other greatest hits albums out before.

I'm wondering if they'll follow this up with a tour.

That would be a show worth seeing.

Peace,

- Neo
