A New Blog Will Be Born
So thanks to all of the encouraging comments saying go for creating a new blog dedicated to reviewing albums I will soon be making my new blog. Unfortunately I probably won't start it for another two weeks because on Saturday August 5th I will be going on a week long vacation so I won't be using the computer during that time. During that vacation I'll try to think of a good title for the blog, and maybe (which I doubt) write up a few reviews. Thank you all for the encouragement! One other thing I wanted to bring up is a great post on the Heavy Metal Time Machine, and the post can be found here "Music Blogs." It's a great post appreciating Music Blogs and what makes them so great opposed to music magazines. He really could not have made the post any better than it was, a basic rundown basically says that the wonderful thing about music blogs is that the people who write them are true fans and the material they write is raw and unedited opposed to music magazines where the material written is "fluffed" and edited. Anyway, definitely worth a read!

Glad to hear about the new blog -- I visit a few very good music-focused blogs on a regular basis, and your voice will be a welcome addition.
We'll look forward to seeing it pop up. Please stop by and let me know when you have it running, and we can trade links.

Music magazine reviews? *cough*payola*cough*cough*
Of course those reviews are fluffed, there are certain bands/musicians that are critical darlings. Hell, the Stones could release an album of Keith Richards Bowel Movements and Rolling Stone magazine would still give it a rave review. On the flip side there are bands/musicians that those critics aren't "allowed" to like... Any of those bands could release the most beautiful musical masterpiece since the days of Mozart and the critics at Rolling Stone could still find a way to rip it to shreds.
David - I am going to link you to this blog right away.
Perplexio - You hit the nail on the head. Well besides Rolling Stone probably being the worst magazine when reviewing albums I always felt they had some kind of grudge against Prog Rock never really recognizing it.
And they've always hated one of my fave bands, Chicago. Although it probably doesn't help that various members of Chicago have said some rather disparaging things about Rolling Stone over the years (Peter Cetera was once quoted saying, "Yes I read Rolling Stone, usually when I'm taking a shit." or something to that effect). Granted Chicago didn't do themselves any favors by shifting from kick-ass adventurous classical and jazz influenced hard rock with horns in the sixties and early seventies to pansy-assed lover's lament prom songs in the late seventies and throughout the eighties.
The only reviewer I trust is the one between my ears!
