Thanks to my Internet acting insane I have been unable to post. Today I have a question which has been plaguing me for quite awhile. Why am I sick of listening to Led Zeppelin? I can never take away from the incredible talent in the band and at a time they were easily one of my favorite bands, over time they have completely fell off the radar for me. I probably haven't listened to Led Zeppelin under my own will in about two years. Of course I'll listen to a song here or there but I've never listened to a whole album or even a few songs of Zeppelin at once. The past few days I found myself listening to the radio a lot and it honestly feels like every other song is Led Zeppelin. I receive three rock stations in my area and it is certainly not uncommon for all three of them to play Led Zeppelin at the same time. Zeppelin for me is a band that just seems to get old; when I listen to them I don't even feel the need to listen to their albums but instead just individual songs. Is it just me or is Led Zeppelin a band that becomes a bit repetitive when listened to in heavy doses? As I said earlier their talent is undeniable but their music seems to get old and for me fairly quick.

Wow. I have never really asked myself this question. They are one of my favorite bands and when I was in HS I could listen to them for hours on end. Now, I think one song evey now and then is good. I like to really LISTEN to a Zep tune - get into it - so it's like chocolate, one really good peice is better than eating a whole bunch at once and then feeling sick. Make sense?
I think you figured it out when you said it seems like every other song on the radio is Led Zeppelin - they're very overplayed. Heck, I even get sick of Hendrix once in a while.
At least you're not sick of Pink Floyd. Is that even possible for you?
Layla - that's a really good analogy actually. The problem is, is that even when I listen to the radio I feel like I'm getting too much because every station I flip through plays Zeppelin constantly.
Russ - I don't think I could ever get sick of Floyd, because they are not a band who create music for singles but for complete albums. I am a bit sick of "Money" but not much else.
I'm the same way with my favorite band...KISS. I've listened to the albums over and over, listened to boots over and over, and it's just overkill. On radio in RI, you here the same 5 or 6 KISS tunes and it tends to annoy.
Zep gets played a lot here too. With Massachusetts so close, I have access to 7 Rock station, all of which play Zep a ton, but the same dozen tunes.
Dig deep, play a track that I haven't heard everyday of my life. I just want to kick the radio from time to time.
Led Zeppelin is like hard drugs, it is hard to not listen, you can't escape, you are hooked man, your current mood will not effect your ability to control your Zeppelin man!
Get the DVD and watch "Sick Again" and you will understand that they are the greatest band ever, the music has power because of the talent, it also has financial power because the stations play it because they love money, Zeppelin brings the fans from all generations in and have since 1968.
That's why my wife hates radio. They play "the hits" ad nauseum and you don't want to listen to the rest of the band's music either.
Try listening to a bootleg concert, though. Might shake it loose. Totally different animal live.
Peace.
