Well May 2
nd should be a fairly interesting day regarding record sales.
Two major bands coming out with two highly anticipated albums.
Tool will be releasing their first album “10,000 Days” since 2001’s Lateralus and Pearl Jam is releasing their first album since 2000.
Rolling Stone declared Pearl Jam’s new self titled album their best record in ten years where as Tool fans follow their band in what some may see as a cult like following.
This is certainly a good day for music, I can’t say that I’m a Pearl Jam fan mainly due in part to Eddie Vedder’s voice but they were easily one of the most important bands of the 90’s and were the centerpiece of the Grunge scene along with Nirvana.
To make things even more interesting The Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming out with a double disc album named “Stadium Arcadium.”
Like the other two bands the public hasn’t seen new work in quite awhile, their last album was released four years ago.
My prediction for the first week would be that Tool will outdo Pearl Jam mainly because of the fact that Tool fans would live and die for the band and many Tool fans I’ve talked to are purchasing more than one copy (I wish I could waste my money like that.)
The following week The Peppers will probably eclipse the sales of Tool and will take the number one spot.
This is definitely something to keep an eye on.

This has been the best year in music in a very long time!
And basically across all genres. NOt a big Pink fan, but her new album is awesome. Willie Nelson's new album may be his best ever. Belle and Sebastian have given up the "chamber pop" sound and suddenly are very worth listening to. The debut album of Nora Jone's new band, The Little Willies, gets played on my puter almost every day.
I am SOOO looking forward to Pearl Jam's new one!
I hated the Chili Peppers last album. It didn't help that one of my coworkers at the time bought the single for The Other Side and would play it over and over all day every day for several weeks... Occassionally she'd play the Macy Gray single I Try (which I hold an even deeper level of contempt for) instead.
That being said I've never really been a fan of the Chili Peppers and for that reason I hope both Tool and Pearl Jam end up out-selling them... For that matter I hope sales on the Chili Peppers new album fall flat at about 30,000 or so (I REALLY don't like them).
I can't say I'm a fan of the RHCP but I can't say I hate them either. I just hope Tool can take number 1.
RHCP is one of the most talented bands out there , lyrics wise they suck but they are very original and their last 2 albums rocked the charts and made me a fan , there's nothing like "Californication" which is the peak of their career, "by the way" is also a very good album, they definetly go in my best 10 bands of all time.
i don't think tool will take #1 , i think RHCP , pearl jam , then tool
Red Hot Chili Peppers sucks ass. They are the most overrated piece of mediocre shit band ever.
Tool by far, no contest.
Red Hot Chili Peppers sucks balls and Pearl Jam is just nothing of special.
